The Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership of Women's and Children's Services, including Obstetrics, Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU), Pediatrics, and related outpatient clinics for Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO. This role oversees multiple cost centers and care environments, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing service line growth, operational excellence, workforce engagement, and financial stewardship.

The Director collaborates with physicians, nursing leaders, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders to develop and execute strategic initiatives that improve patient outcomes, enhance caregiver experience, optimize operational performance, and support Mercy's mission, vision, values, and service standards.

Position Details:

Director Opportunity for OB/NICU/PEDS Inpatient and Outpatient/Clinic Services at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field required. If hired candidate has nursing degree, must be licensed as an RN in the state of Missouri.
  • Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related healthcare field preferred.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience with demonstrated responsibility for clinical operations, nursing leadership, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Experience leading multiple departments, service lines, or cost centers in acute care and/or ambulatory settings.
  • Demonstrated success in physician partnership, caregiver engagement, operational improvement, and quality outcomes.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strong clinical and operational leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledge of women's and children's healthcare services, including obstetrics, neonatal care, pediatrics, and ambulatory operations.
  • Strategic planning and business acumen.
  • Financial management and budget oversight.
  • Process improvement and performance management expertise.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and change leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams and influence across organizational levels.
