Field Service Technician

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a specialized equipment manufacturer supporting the food processing and meat production industry to identify a Field Service Technician. The organization provides technical service, installation, and lifecycle support for complex production systems used in high-volume manufacturing environments across the U.S.

Summary

This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing PLC-controlled and mechanically integrated equipment at customer facilities, primarily within meat processing and food manufacturing environments. The Field Service Technician will troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues, perform commissioning and upgrades, and support ongoing equipment performance. The position requires strong hands-on technical ability, customer interaction skills, and willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance and repairs at customer sites

• Support installation, commissioning, and equipment upgrade activities

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and pneumatic diagrams

• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and mechanical equipment

• Assist with program modifications and system adjustments as needed

• Document service work and complete accurate service reports

• Follow all site-specific and company safety policies and procedures

• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and internal teams

• Provide feedback to engineering and after-sales teams to support product improvements

• Coordinate travel logistics including flights, lodging, and on-site scheduling

Requirements

• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience required

• Experience working with Allen-Bradley PLC systems preferred

• Prior field service, installation, or commissioning experience

• Ability to support PLC program modifications in the field

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

• Ability to read technical manuals and engineering diagrams

• Experience in food manufacturing or meat processing environments is a plus

• Strong communication and customer-facing skills

• Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites across multiple states
