Occupational Therapist – Full Time

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to provide exceptional patient care through the evaluation, planning, and implementation of medically prescribed occupational therapy programs. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working in a collaborative, patient-focused healthcare environment.

The Occupational Therapist practices within the scope of the Missouri Occupational Therapy Practice Act and complies with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards. This role also supports departmental growth through quality initiatives, program development, and special projects.

What You'll Do

Patient Care & Clinical Excellence

  • Evaluate patients' functional status, medical history, and psychosocial factors to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Establish measurable goals and implement effective treatment strategies designed to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Prioritize evaluations and interventions to optimize progress and goal achievement.
  • Modify treatment plans and approaches based on patient response and evolving needs.
  • Utilize support staff effectively to enhance patient care and department efficiency.
  • Deliver patient care that reflects the highest standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, and compassion.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Implement treatment programs safely while demonstrating a variety of therapeutic techniques and treatment modalities.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and timely when necessary.
  • Maintain documentation and communication standards that support quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

Communication & Patient Education

  • Provide clear, thorough patient and family education throughout the continuum of care and at discharge.
  • Complete evaluations, progress notes, charge entries, and other documentation in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Effectively communicate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to ensure coordinated care.

Program Development & Department Support

  • Participate in quality improvement and program evaluation activities.
  • Assist with marketing initiatives, workshops, and community outreach efforts.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide orientation and support for new team members.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new or updated programs, including staff education, policy development, and program monitoring.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for students.
  • Participate in departmental and special projects as needed.

Professional Development & Technology

  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical, technical, and therapeutic advancements.
  • Share knowledge and best practices through staff education and mentorship.

Qualifications

Required

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Licensure

  • Current Occupational Therapy license in the hiring state or eligibility for licensure.

Certifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

Other

  • Ability to respond effectively to emergency situations.

Preferred

Certifications

  • National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
