Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist First Assist (STFA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) to join our Operating Room team. This full-time surgical services role provides advanced intraoperative support for surgeons and plays a critical role in patient safety, surgical efficiency, and positive patient outcomes.

The Surgical Technologist First Assist (STFA) functions as an advanced surgical team member who provides direct assistance to surgeons before, during, and after surgical procedures. The STFA collaborates with surgeons and operating room staff to ensure safe, efficient, and effective patient care throughout the perioperative process.
This role combines traditional Surgical Technologist responsibilities with advanced first-assist duties including:
Surgical exposure
Hemostasis
Wound closure
Tissue handling
Instrumentation management
Surgical site preparation
Intraoperative assistance
The Surgical Technologist First Assist helps maintain sterile technique, supports infection prevention practices, and contributes to optimal surgical outcomes.
